Hi I need some advice on benefits, my husband claims esa for both of us, we both claim carers allowance for each other and are both getting pip enchanted rates for care and mobility. My husband reaches pension age September this year, but I won’t reach pension age for another seven years, so my question is what benefits will we be entitled too.

Hello @alisonannrees1. Thanks for your post.
Unfortunately, benefits are not my area of expertise. This means I can only hope someone with more knowledge in this area is able to respond to you soon.
In the meantime, I just wanted to respond to say we hear you and are here for you. You might find this resource useful for getting an overview of what you might be entitled to.
Take care for now and I will look forward to hopefully hearing from you again soon. Please let us know if we can do anything else to help or if you stumble across any other questions0 -

You may be able to claim UC. I suggest you use a benefits calculator and/or get a benefits check from an advice agency to check if there will be entitlement.
if there is, before he reaches pension age you should both claim Universal Credit. You should declare your health conditions and that you care for each other.
Your Universal Credit calculation will include
Couple Allowance
LCWRA element (for him) carried over from the ESA Support Group
carer element (for you because you look after him)
housing element (if you rent your rent)
This will give you a maximum entitlement.
His pension and your Carer's Allowance will be deducted.
The balance remaining (if any) will be the UC amount payable. If there are no housing costs then no UC will be payable if he will be getting the full pension of £185/week.
Can I check, does your husband receive Carer's Allowance with all the ESA income based or is the ESA part contribution based in which case I would expect the CA not to be paid and a Severe disability Premium could then be included in the ESA? If there is SDP then there will be an extra UC element included in the calculation.0
