I don’t really know how “older” is defined so use your own judgement
Mine is Keeping Up Appearances. I love Mrs. Bucket and I think everyone will find they have a Mrs. Bucket figure in their life if they watch the program.
Second favourite is a tie between Fawlty Towers and Dad’s Army.

Has to be Dad's Army a true comedy classic that started in 1967 in B&W, more recently I've enjoyed Lee Mack's Not Going Out.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

Probably 'The Two Ronnies,' tho 'Waiting for God' is a close 2nd. Other Golden Oldies are 'Rowan & Martin's Laugh In,' Marty Feldman's TV shows, & 'Monty Python.'
-
Oh my i had totally forgotten about Rowan & Martins laugh in.
mmmm think there's a few I loved Butterflies and Waiting for god.
I remember Steptoe and son i always thought that was a strange one.
I've just remembered - It Ain't Half Hot Mum xx -
@SueHeath I like It Ain’t Half Hot Mum as well

I think the more we look back and think @66Mustang the more of these shows come to our brains, we had some classics back in the day some very controversial ones as well that would not be allowed on our screens now. xx
Rising Damp another one i just remembered -
Yes true @SueHeath I keep thinking about others. I remember another one that followed a new young doctor but can’t remember the name
About the controversy, I think in many ways TV is MORE offensive today. There is a lot more swearing and a lot lot more explicit sexual scenes which a few decades ago would have horrified the average viewer lol
Things become offensive and other things stop being offensive
I think one of the reasons I like old shows so much is that I like looking at the classic cars which of course weren’t classics when the shows were made -
I know what you mean @66Mustang yes the sexy scenes were not seen back then. But their was one i wish i could remember the name "Alf Garnett" or was that then name ha ha - it wouldn't be allowed nowadays.
Just like my husband he looks at the cars to judge an era, but then again i suppose us women are the same with the fashion.
I'm trying to think now with a Doctor ??? There was Mash ??? xx -
Yes I’m not easily offended by jokes but some scenes in the old comedies do make me cringe a bit because they are so homophobic or sexist etc!
Ha ha didn’t realise you could tell an era by the fashion but that makes sense. I think in future decades I could tell the 2020s from ripped jeans but that’s about it!
I can’t remember for the life of me what the name of the doctor one was lol, it might have been just a one off for all I know, I just watched it on YouTube once as it was a suggested video after watching some other old comedy -
Hang about @66Mustang there was one wasn't it the actor who was in the lively lads ???? ha ha thats another one. wwwww this is going to do my head in ha ha.
Well you'l be able to tell some parts of the 2020's with masks as well ha ha xx -
Was it Doctor in the house @66Mustang ?
I used to like Frasier too.
james Bolam (of the likely lads) was in a Doctor comedy with Richard Wilson (one foot in the grave) called Only when I laugh.“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”

From looking at Google I think it might be Doctor At Large but I can’t remember the episode I saw, I only saw one - maybe a couple.
The comment about masks made me laugh!!! -
