I'm getting married, and my partner will be moving in. I'm on ESA and PIP. Will my ESA stop?

ok so when I contact DWP will they suggest that I go for the new style ESA ? Or tell me which is best to do, I’m just more bother that DWP mite say it all stops all together now my partner/ husband is living with me now… at the moment my daughter comes in every day to help me with things I can’t do ( she doesn’t claim carers allowance ) she just looks after me because she wants to .. when Iv looked on other sites people have said for every one there ESA stops altogether wen some one moves in with you, so it’s a bit confusing to what’s right and what’s wrong …
And thank you for your wishes on me getting married, I’m looking forward to November yet also worried of the out come on this all 🥺If you're now living with your partner then you will need to ring ESA and report the changes. As he's working full time then any Income Related ESA will end. If part of your ESA is contributions based then this will continue. (£117.60 per week) You do not need to claim New style ESA. If you didn't report the changes when you moved in together any over payment will need to be repaid back. You can use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit. If part of your ESA is Contributions based then this will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/Intro/Home?cid=12966773-fa62-4071-8da8-de7173aa50e4

If your existing ESA contains a contribution based entitlement it will automatically continue. You will not have to claim anything. If the ESA is entirely income based, it will likely stop asa result of your partners earnings.
As discussed you should in due course get a full benefits check because, as a couple, you may be better off claiming UC.0 -

Yes indeed, i can't disagree with that.

OP, have you found out yet whether your existing ESA is all income based or whether it includes contribution based entitlement.
As advised earlier,calcotti said:
An old ESA award can include both contribution based entitlement and additional income based entitlement. Income based ESA is full means tested.
It is not possible to understand the impact of changes on an ESA claimant without knowing whether or not their ESA includes some contribution based entitlement.

Hi guys
my partners does not live with me, and won’t be untill after we get married we both decided this is the way we want to go, this is why I’m asking about my ESA as it’s getting closer to our wedding and I know things will change then … I get part contribution at the moment0 -
cds234_456 said:I get part contribution at the momentThen this will continue, even with your partner working. When you move in together, you will need to report the changes and your Income Related top up will stop. You can then use a benefits calculator to check if there's any entitlement to Universal Credit. Or, if you can't do this then you can both get a full benefits check from an advice agency near you.1

Hi, Can i just say, i have just recently got married i am on esa, but my new hubby dosnt work, please just phone the esa up, they will help you and guide you through it all, as i am also on pip i also need to notify them as the council tax as im no longer single person, but please just take one step at a time there is no sense in worrying or panicking ,just phone them up when you get married, there not going to rag your esa from out of under you or automatically stop your payments, just send them a copy of your marriage certificate and let them guide you through the system, they are very patient and do ask questions, above all dont worry, and do enjoy your wedding day xx0
