Is 1 day too late for my mandatory reconsideration to be received?

Hi can anybody please help me, i am
so stressed out, I had to ring pip 3 times to request my assessors report as they still did not send it in on the first request which delayed my mandatory reconsideration by 2 weeks so i sent it by recorded signed for first class and it’s been received one day later than the deadline date.
the lady on the phone told me it’s been scanned onto the system but I didn’t realise until now that it’s a day late otherwise I would if asked about it.
Does anybody know if this will affect my claim if its a day late? It got there later than expected with Royal Mail.
it’s very stressful this.

Hi and welcome to the community

I'm sure it will be fine you actually have 13 months to submit a mr if it is a valid reason

Dwp are aware of postal delays so don't panic

    Hi @janer1967

thanks for the reply, oh I'm
really stressed I hope it’s ok, the Royal Mail said to me there are huge volumes of mail going to government buildings like pip and the passport offices so it’s not being scanned in as signed for so it doesn’t even say it’s been received by Royal Mail yet, trust it to get there 1 day late.

I think it will be on their system the 3 times I called to request the assessors report also so it’s delays that are not caused by me.

    Thanks again for the reply

I'm glad to see janer1967 could help reassure you @gowe :)

Do you have any strategies or methods to help manage the anxiety you feel?

The mental health charity Mind has some good tips on managing feelings of stress, so please do take a look if you'd find it useful.

Mail going to DWP isn't classed as arriving until it's been added to the system and it can take a few weeks for this to happen. Signed for delivery is a waste of money as it's signed for in bulk by someone from Royal Mail sorting office.
For future reference, you don't really need the assessment report for the MR because it can be a distraction anyway and concentrating on the report doesn't get a PIP award.
As others have said, you do have 13 months with good reason. If for any reason they didn't accept it then you would just continue with Tribunal.

    Hi @poppy123456

Thankyou so much for the reply, do you think it will be ok?

I only requested the assessors report after receiving the dwp decision makers letter saying a no I received 4 points in total, so needed the assessors report to see what descriptors apply to me.

I hope it’s ok thanks so much

The DWP letter shows where they have scored the 4 points. The assessment report adds nothing. You are the one who knows how you are affected and where you think you could score (provided you understand the point scoring system).

You can see the PIP descriptors online.

    Hi @gowe
Don't worry at all about the MR being slightly late.  Explain where and why you think you should score points.  If the decision maker has given you points for a certain  activity but you think your difficulties are such that you should be awarded more points in respect of a different higher scoring descriptor for the same activity then explain.  Remember you can only score points in respect of the highest scoring descriptor.  You cant accumulate points from several descriptors in respect of the same activity.
