Holiday Insurance

Hi I’m fortunate to be going a holiday but been declined insurance due to new non serious health investigations re my shoulders with pins and needle. Other more serious issues would otherwise be covered although at a big premium and excess. My Husband is in a similar position - what right pair we are 😂. We are Still going to go but do think it should be possible to get some cover, in the very least non medical cover such as baggage cover, cancellation not due to my new health issue etc.
Really though I’m surprised they won’t give cover but just exclude issues relating to the one new health issue!

Rant over but having worked in Insurance and done risks assessments this does seem unfair and non-sensical!
Anyone else having similar problems?
I can’t think I’m in a minority so take care out there 😊

Have you tried some of the more specialist insurers?

I agree with your rant. Would seem reasonable to offer insurance with exclusions for the medical conditions which would at least give you all the other protection you might like.

Hi @calcotti,
Thanks for your reply. I have used https://www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/everyday-money/insurance/travel-insurance-directory
to find a few specialists. Companies listed are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Insurance companies seem to use two medical screening underwriting companies and both have rejected us 🤷♀️.
I will have another look at the money savings site though thanks.0 -
We are in the same boat so to speak. For over the past 12 months and wanting some sunshine we tried every broker/company that I could find and no one was willing to offer any cover for me at any cost? The best that I was offered was for a 3 day trip to Northern France that came out at just over £1700 plus they excluded most of my problems.0

@Richard_Scope has mentioned using Fish Insurance before. Have you looked into them @purpletoast @racyguy? I'm sorry you've both been struggling to find appropriate, affordable insurance.1

I seem to remember that there are two companies that do the assessing - can't remember their names but it became very clear to me that if you get a knock back with both it really doesn't matter which insurance company you ask to quote - it will be the same answer over and over again.0
