Diarrhoea Again. Advice Please?

Firstly, I am not after medical advice.
A few weeks ago I posted a really interesting question on Diarrhoea.
I explained that I had, had this for about four months. The final straw came when I messed the bed.
I immediately rang for a Dr appointment. I explained the above. Within fifty minutes of contacting reception. I was in the waiting room.
I saw a Dr. He was very downbeat.
I too thought it was the C word.
Anyhow to cut a long story short.
The runs has got a lot better over the weeks gone by.
I had an idea the other week that the cause may be Chicken Tikka meat from/with Chips that was the cause.
I had an idea the other week that the cause may be Chicken Tikka meat from/with Chips that was the cause.
Or more like the Tikka meat. I had cut this out over the last few weeks. Hence the less trips to toilet.
Last night being a Friday night I had Chips.
No Tikka meat was eaten.
I have just visited the loo and I got the runs again.
Can chips cause the runs. I've eaten them thousands of times in my life and it has never affected before?
Some folks a few weeks ago mentioned IBS. And I am wondering this..
Also a few years ago I had a friend who had the same problems. He said there is an additive that they put into the chip oil that cleans the oil and this can cause toilet problems.
Could this perhaps be.
On Tuesday I got to go for a minor procedure. A camera up my butt.
Could the chips be the prime cause?
I am going to feel a proper berk, all this trouble I have caused.
Opinions please folks. Thanking you all.

Hello @oldngrumpy, sorry to hear of what you have been through, and that the doctor wasn't very helpful.
I am not sure whether or not chips could cause that, it could be due to many reasons but perhaps it might be worth asking about when you go for your assessment during the week.
I hope the procedure goes well and this can be resolved for you.1 -
Don’t feel stupid. It’s best to get checked out. I’ve had the camera before and at the end of the day it will help the doctor rule things out.Have you heard of FODMAP, it’s recommended for IBS, but I’d advise speaking to the doctor and ask for a referral to a dietitian.1
