Your experiences of holidays as a disabled person?
Holidays for people with disabilities, don’t get me started. If you’re disabled holidays are a challenge, or a no, no. First of all there is the cost. While accepting they will cost a bit more do they have to be so high when venturing abroad?
The insurance can also be expensive, most don’t want to touch you and those that do, well you’ll pay the price. After lockdown everyone wants a break, but some prices are sky high for a week in Europe.
And then there’s the hassle of the airport that hits everyone, not to mention the horror of getting on the plane waiting ages for a lift platforms and the loos, it is enough to make a staycation seem attractive.
Finding a hotel room with an accessible bathroom and if they do will you be charged a premium. Is there a lift and is it big enough for an electric wheelchair? And is the resort disabled friendly?
What’s your experience good, bad or ugly?

Thanks for sharing this post @Dionne_2022, holidays certainly are quite a relevant subject at the moment with the summer on the horizon.
I'd be interested to hear from others about any challenges or positive experiences they have had with the accessibility of holidays.
Do you have any holidays planned?0 -
We have holiday planned in Dec booked through on the beach so far they have made sure our booking has taken into account my needs and no additional cost
Travel insurance was pretty cheap tho my disabilities are not a travel or health risk as such
Yet to see though how it all works out our flight has been cancelled due to airline stopping flying to 13 destinations from our chosen airport so another flight to find0 -
Fingers crossed that it all works out for you. Today’s weather great for a staycation0
