Yes the time frames have been correct upon ringing the DWP centre . I don’t understand why when we question timeframes you get shut down with 12 weeks ? Of course it’s up to or can be but when coming on this site to talk to others and you see they are awarded really quite quickly those who wait are obviously going to worry and question…

I don't think it's a question of being shut down, it's what the DWP, their agents etc all state.
So clearly people can debate on timelines, but realistically it could be 12 weeks as all DWP guidance states.

    Hello Jane888
I would like to respond to your post about the time it takes to make a pip decision after an assessment has been completed. The reason why this forum rightly advise people to wait for atleast 12 weeks is because there are different levels of backlogs in different areas of the UK so some might be waiting longer than others and some might have a pip decision much sooner because the backlogs are much lower in that area. Also there is another factor that needs to be taken into account when questioning the length of time it takes to make a pip decision. That factor is a random audit of the assesment report. The DWP do a random audit on assesment reports for quality control purposes and this can extend the pip decision time by 4 to 6 weeks and sometimes longer and that is on top of the standard waiting times for that area. So no one is getting "Shutdown" or wrongly advised. What is being advised here is a time frame taking into account all possibilities I have described above. It would be totally impossible to give anyone a true accurate timeline because of the different situations that could arise that would make it longer for a pip decision to be made.
I hope that clarifies why people are advised to wait atleast 12 weeks before getting a pip decision.
    Thank you

If you read my post correctly I have stated that “ of course it’s up to or can be 12 weeks “ . And I have said I felt shut down. That is how I felt. I did not say it was wrong giving a 12 week timescale.
So I feel that the response from @schoolmum is a dreadful attitude to people worrying and very presumptuous.
Please be kind to peoples feelings and how they perceive comments and replies .

Totally agree and understand .But . It is the way one can feel and worry when sharing timescales we are on here to support each other and share our feelings and worry’s about being awarded.
People worry as I said earlier when others get their decision quickly. I myself worried when others got theirs quickly and I didnt . It’s just sharing an opinion with others in the same situation.
I’m sure we able to share worries on here ? Without being scolded by @s@schoolmum

I’ve said this before on here @Jane888 so I agree with you. Of course appreciate the support and advice from those who know more.

But…This is a chat forum and many times people have come here seeking advice and comfort of other people’s experiences and they have been shut down. That’s clear. However it’s just an opinion on people’s reactions.  Yet im happy that we can continue to see updates and receive advice from well known members on here.  X

I don't see anyone being scolded by schoolmum. I see she's making a very valid point. DWP tell you a timescale of 8 weeks, same for the assessors. If someone is then waiting 9 weeks they come here panicking because they haven't yet had a decision so they think the worst.

There can be a number of reasons other than backlogs and audits why a decision may take longer, for example, a claimants individual case maybe more complex than another claimant. Or the decision maker has to send the report back to the health assessment providers because there's very noticable contradictions or something else may not be quite right. All this can cause delays with the decision making process.

    Hi @Jane888
Firstly, can I say that I am very pleased that you have been awarded PIP. I do know what a worry it is while waiting from first applying to a decision to be made.

I certainly didn't post to make you feel 'scolded' and I am sorry if you have perceived it in that way.

I feel I did read you post correctly as highlighted below where you stated... Yes the time frames have been correct upon ringing the DWP centre... 'I don’t understand why when we question timeframes you get shut down with 12 weeks' ?
Of course it’s up to or can be but when coming on this site to talk to others and you see they are awarded really quite quickly those who wait are obviously going to worry and question…

If you had read my post correctly you would have seen it was the comment made by @angel247 that I was quoting and made my retort to. I quote again...
'Congrats!! So your advised timeframe was correct. Even though others said otherwise 🙄.  So happy for you xx

This read to me as being a sarcastic and rude comment about members who had given their well meaning advice.

I then went on to state my views and thankfulness for the advice that is so freely give by much appreciated members.

I totally agree with the sentiment of being kind to each other as I said in my post,  but can you imagine how it would feel if you had taken the time to give advice and experienced knowledge then read a sarcastic remark like 'Even though others said otherwise'?

    Kind regards
    Schoolmum

Firstly. School mum. I wrote that based on what me and Jane experienced in this forum. I sent post off and was told otherwise and I felt shut down. So yes the sarcasm came from that. As it’s clear not only I feel that way.

    Thanks anyways good vibes always

I still haven’t even had a text to say they have received my report. I had my assessment on January 6. I hope it’s okay.

Sometimes reports are sent to audit, if this happens it delays returning it to DWP. Being in audit is nothing to worry about it just means they are checking the assessor did their job correctly. The only thing with reports is it does delay the decision making process because a decision can't be made until it's returned to DWP.

Oh, I see. I’m very worried this is my first time applying. I didn’t get any help as I don’t have anyone who can help.

I’m just worried about the process really

Incase help to anyone, I just got my text this morning saying pip is awarded and wait for letter explaining. Dates for me are:
    4th July, apply.
    28th Nov, assessment
11th Jan, text saying report received
17th Jan, phone call asking if I want back pay in lump sum or staggered, some other questions around support and bank. They told me decision wasn't official yet when they rang me but would be made official sometime this week.
18th Jan, text saying pip award, wait for letter to explain.

My next step when award letter comes through is to apply for bus pass if possible, doesn't hurt to try, and sign up to classes at mind, maybe even a gym membership, not sure yet.

They are standard texts sent by DWP that always say up to 8 weeks. The reason we say up to 12 weeks is because we have some members that have waited longer than 8 weeks for a decision.
If someone doesn't have a decision within 8 weeks they start panicking and post here asking why a decision hasn't been made yet.
Some do also have a decision within 8 weeks.

Such grey areas and contradictions going on this thread . Best to not read anything and just sit and wait to whatever the outcome will be it only fuels my anxiety

I don't see any contradictions but some people are reading too much into individual experiences. A decision can take up to 12 weeks from DWP getting the assessment report. Obviously many people get it sooner than that - although it is encouraging that more people have been posting about rapid decisions (but it's a very more sample in the context of PIP claim processed).

Trying not to worry while waiting is the best approach - easier said than done I know.

The length of wait has no significance in terms of the likely outcome.
