I have applied for New Style ESA.
I have completed the dreaded ESA50 form and before I have sent it to the Assessment Centre I was advised to send a copy of it all with all my medical information direct to the Case Manager/Decision Maker at Wolverhampton to emphasis my condition. As the charity who has been dealing with my case feels it is ridiculous for them even to suggest an assessment.
I have requested on the form that I want a recorded assessment (should they carry it out which I suspect they will) and that a reasonable date is given so that my support to the assessment is a representative from the charity that has been supporting me with my claims (and knows the rules and law on these type of claims) to ensure it is carried out correctly.
Are ESA assessments been carried out "face to face" or by "telephone" now? Also do they do "paper-based" ones? Also how long will it be before I get assessed?
I have sent the copy to Wolverhampton last Monday and surprise surprise is currently not showing as received in the post by them. I will later this week send the original to the Assessment Centre as the dead line is next week.
I am at my whits end dealing with the DWP as they seem to take forever now to sort anything out.
Also I am awaiting on PIP and have asked for the assessment report to be sent to me. Is it worth putting that also into the claim form for ESA the actual report?

Assesments are currently either by telephone, face to face at an assessment centre or video call. Paper based assessments do happen but they are rare. As you're requesting for it to be recorded then you could potentially be waiting longer because the HCP needs to agree to be recorded before it can go ahead.Waiting times can be several months, sometimes as long as a year.PIP and ESA are two completely different benefits but there is some overlap with some of the descriptors. Whether it's worth sending the report will totally depend on exactly what it says in there.0

Unless you have a terminal illness supported by an appropriate certificate you will be referred for an assessment.0
