I have just found out about this benefit. Is it automatic if you have cancer?

If you have a diagnosis of 6 months or less to live (sorry if that sounds horrible) then you can claim PIP (providing you're aged between 16 and state pension) with a DS1500 form from your Consultant or Doctor and your claim will be fast tracked. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-claim/how-to-claim-if-terminally-ill/

Otherwise you'll need to go through the normal claims process by ringing PIP to start a claim but a diagnosis doesn't automatically entitle you to it. Whether you're entitled to anything will totally depend on how your conditions affect you. https://pipinfo.net/
