Hi, hope you are all well.
New to the group and just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and can advise of my next steps please?
My daughter has epilepsy and it’s unfortunately not always controlled by medication - we are in the situation where she is unsafe in the bath and it is a struggle for us to help or safely get her into a bath (after seizure incontinence)
At present we are in a privately rented property (have been for 10 years) - the bathroom is downstairs (not ideal for when she needs carried downstairs to wash) and we only have a bath.
We have gone to our local
council to see if we could apply for a grant and we have had an appointment with a case worker to proceed…. However our landlord has confirmed that they do not wish for the removal of the bath or any major changes.

Just upset me a little how they wouldn’t want to make a young girls life who struggles a little easier - we have been the perfect tenants for 10+ years.
Would this then leave us in a position where we need to look at moving? No idea what to do to try and make things easier and most importantly safer.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Unfortunately, this can happen when privately renting because not all landlords will agree to the adaptions being made, especially something as big as this.Has your daughter had a needs assessment by your local Authority? If she hasn't then you can refer her for this and if they agree that the property isn't suitable then you could be recommended for social housing. However, this whole process could be extremely long, even if you're placed into the highest band for your circumstances, this doens't mean a suitable house will be available anytime soon.Other than that it would be privately renting and trying to find a suitable house with a different landlord.

Hi there
It may not be suitable but could you use an electric bath seat to help get her in and out of the bath
You can get these supplied through the ot that completes the care need assessment or you can purchase them from disability aid shops1
