There's no point appealing this decision because it will be a waste of your time. It's new regulations that full time students are unable to claim UC, unless they were assessed as having either LCW or LCWRA before their course started.Full details here. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/827/madeI totally disagree with these regulations and think it's disgusting that disabled students can't claim UC but it is what is and there's nothing that can be done.Is she at Uni? If so, lots of students claim student finance so you could look into that, at least for September, if she continues as a student. https://www.ucas.com/sfe

I don't know for definite but I think she could do a credits only ESA claim to get a work capability assessment and then once awarded lcw or lcwra apply for Universal Credit? Someone might know for sure but that's what I've read before

That's no longer possible because the rules changed. A student must have been found to have LCW/LCWRA before the course started. See link. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/827/made

So they can't even do credits only? That just leaves people very stuck.
thank you for explaining it
-
They can as a NI credits only, if they are found to have LCW but this won't help a claim for UC.
