I'm sorry to hear this @Markh1982 was it for your PIP claim?

This is really difficult news to receive, so make sure you take time to look after your mental health today, in whatever way helps the most. Remember you're not alone in this, and the community is here to support you.

When you feel ready to, you can look into challenging this decision if it's something you'd like to do. Turn2Us has information about all your options and next steps.

I'd also encourage you to seek some professional advice regarding this, perhaps from Citizens Advice, or Advice Local.

If you'd prefer to talk everything through, then you'd be welcome to give the Scope Helpline a call to speak to one of our advisers.

If we've missed anything or you feel we can help further, please let us know.

PIP is not about your ability to work. People work and claim PIP. Although if you do work and what you do contradicts the reasons why you’re claiming PIP then it could go against you.
It does help to have some understanding of the PIP descriptors and criteria. My advice is to speak to an advice agency near you to see if it’s possible to score enough points needed for an award before requesting the MR. Start here https://advicelocal.uk/

I can understand your frustrations @Markh1982 sometimes a refused PIP claim can feel very personal, and like we've not been heard or understood. It's very frustrating, I know.

I know it can feel like a lost cause, but it is worth pursuing, because you are worth the time and effort.

I would encourage you to find some practical help if you'd like to challenge the decision, and one of the best places to look is Advice Local, as Poppy has mentioned.

When people are assessed during a PIP claim, the assessors are looking for particular things, explained in particular ways. They want to know how your condition affects you about 51% of the time. An adviser will be able to help you tell them about your conditions in the way they are looking for, which gives you a better chance to be awarded PIP.  Does that make sense?

Let us know if you feel we can help further with everything, and keep at it :)

I have appealed the result i went into more detail as to how I mentally cant bring myself to prepare food as it causes me severe palpitations and has had me breaking down previously have i cooked the food correctly, is the oven at the right temperature, I mentally cant cope with the pressure. Also how my wife has to prompt me to wash/bath and she is constantly asking if i have eaten. Shopping was the same i cant handle the pressure of being in such a space with so many people and the pressure of getting everything for the week again is too much for me. Im hoping my more detailed account will help with my appeal. I mentioned on bad days i call in sick to work and just want to be left alone staying in the bedroom not wanting to see or speak to anyone

It sounds positive that you have appealed the result @Markh1982. Not least because this was due to acknowledging the difficulties you experience.

Good luck! Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to support you  :)
