Hi everyone.
I’m Angela and I’m new to site.

I first applied for PIP back in March and have just received my back payments and it is much less that we worked out.

I’m still waiting on my letter. Is it possible to only get the mobility component? As far as I was led to believe, I would be eligible for both (advisor at job centre advised this)

thanks in advance

The ‘adviser’ at the JobCentre doesn’t make the decisions, those are done by Decision Makers. You will have to wait for the decision letter to see what you have been awarded. If you are not satisfied you can request a Mandatory Reconsideration and if that is unsuccessful (most are) you can appeal to the tribunal service.

Which can of course be paid at two different rates, standard or enhanced. Standard rate is only £24.45/week.

    Hi Angela.

As mentioned above, you'll have to wait for a decision letter to be sent out which will determine what you've been awarded. If you're not happy with this you can appeal the decision.

For more information regarding the process, you may find this helpful from the Citizens advice website - https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-claim/how-to-claim/#:~:text=It can take up to,date you started your claim.

    Wishing you well!

    Thanks everyone.
I received my letter today. I applied back in March but they have back dated it to April 2nd. I’m getting £23.70 instead of the new rate of £24.45

The new rate applied from April 11th. Did you have your conditions for at least 3 months before you applied? If you didn't then this could be the reason why it wasn't backdated to the start of your claim. If the rate you've received is wrong then you need to ring PIP.

I have had one condition since 2014 and the other since July 2021. With regards to the rates, i assumed everyone would get the increase

Yes everyone does receive the increase, which applied from 11th April, so before that date you would receive last years rate.

The award letter will quote the rate that’s applied at the award start date. Check what you are actually being paid now. It is very unlikely that you are bing paid incorrectly for current payments.

I’ve only had my back pay. Which was at the old rate. I haven’t received my first proper payment yet but will check it when it comes in. Not been given a date for that. Letter does states £23.70
