Quick question on behalf of my Dad
I know if your in hospital, PIP gets stopped after 28 days.
My Dad was admitted to hospital A on the 3rd July 2022, and discharged from hospital A on the 7th July 2022. He spent the night of the 7th July 2022 at home. He was admitted to hospital B on the 8th July 2022 after spending one night at home. My question is, does that 28 day clock start on the 3rd July 2022 when he was first admitted, or does it start on the 8th July 2022 when he was admitted for a second time? Both admissions are at separate hospitals that I’ve referred to as A and B (names of hospitals omitted for privacy).
thanks in advance

It starts on the 3rd because any stay within 28 days are linked. If the total stay is less than 28 days then his PIP will continue.1

The day of admission and discharge do not count as days in hospital.
Admitted on the 3rd July 2022 and discharged on the 7th July 2022 is therefore 3 days in hospital.
Admitted on the 8th July 2022 means that the 9th July is the fourth day in hospital.
The 28 day count is reset to nil if he is discharged again and is not counted as in hospital for 28 days.1
