Aardvark said:sadly recruiting is very very slow... no bites yet .. well not from close enough i think comin from nigeria for a two hour shift is a bit too far even if the applicants dont ;-)
but its like that nationally .. the hourly rate the council give us just isnt enough.. its not changed in 10+ years.. cleaners, dog walkers , even babysitters in this area charge more... sigh
still keep trying1 -
Hello everyone
Still waiting here... no contact from CHC team but funding carrying on from council and chc will refund.. so in limbo. still trying to recruit .. fingers crossed.0 -
Thanks for updating us all @Aardvark it's frustrating when you're in limbo I know, but if you feel we can help support you in any way, please let us know.
I hope you're able to recruit someone to help soon!0 -
Short of a national campaign to make the governments, Councils and Health boards pay a fair wage I doubt there is much to be dne. I am in so many groups for people trying to recruit PA/Carers and its really tricky at the moment, even the care agencies are struggling.
Its starting to feel a bit like I need to sell myself, and rely on someone being charitable and working for me rather than finding a person who is a good match.0 -
@Aardvark How have things been for you more recently? I appreciate it has been a little while since you last posted on this thread now.
I want to make sure you have access to the support you need and deserve but things might have changed since. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to help0 -
Thank you for checking
So lost in the system.. not having basic questions answered.. such as how much can i pay, who does chc contract for employer support.
About half my hours need recruiting for and its just not happening. The wage is too low and the shifts too short to be enticing but short of eating 3 teas and having 3 showers on a monday and friday and nothing in between i am stuck
the system sucks.. its broken.. the wage is unrealistic and i cant find anyone0 -
I work in a hospital so what going on here can I help anyone0

Hello Emily
Thank you for your message that was really a kind thing to see when waking up to another day.
NHS Continuing health care is the system for 'care at home or in a home' for those with health deemed poorly enough to be too higher need for social services care pathways.
For me that is care and support in my own home.
I am still very much waiting for my file to get to the top of the pile for a care plan and to be taken ontothe NHS side fully. But the are covering my funding (they reimburse social services) and have teamed me up with some great District nurses and community physios so that side is working really well. Its just waiting for the paperwork to fall into place so that I can then get my support mre tailored to what my needs are... its a jolly long wait .1 -
If you need any support feel free to get in touch with me I’m really enjoying working for the NHS it’s a really nice environment everyone is very friendly towards me0

Thanks for being so supportive @EmilyH2023. We all really appreciate it. It is people like you who make this community the supportive and friendly space it is.
@Aardvark How have you been this week? I can hear you are struggling with the system and long waits at the moment. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do to support you0
