Pip declined. Has anyone had to appeal? Is it worth doing? Do I need another assessment?

Received a letter from Universal credit I am now getting LCWRA rang the PIP claim line to let them know and they have told me my PIP claim has been declined! Honestly it really is frustrating! What more do these people want from us? So now I have to wait for my letter to make an appeal has anyone had to appeal? And is it worth doing? All this waiting and stress and worry! And for nothing! Do I need to have another assessment thank you I have been declined twice now I applied last year but didn’t appeal x

You have to start with a Mandatory Reconsideration
    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/benefits-introduction/problems-with-benefits-and-tax-credits/challenging-benefit-decisions/challenging-a-decision-by-the-dwp-or-hmrc/challenging-a-benefit-decision-mandatory-reconsideration/

Most decisions do not get changed at this stage but you can then appeal to the tribunal service where the success rate is much better.

Unfortunately it all involves a lot more waiting.

I am sorry to hear this @MissCT8676 I can hear your frustration. This news can be quite a knockback, so make sure you take some time to process it and look after your mental health however suits you best.

Calcotti has given you a great link from Citizens Advice to get started with your MR, and the community can support you with this if you have any questions. If you'd like an overview of what's involved in challenging a PIP decision Turn2Us explains the different steps.

If you wanted to look into seeking a professional adviser, I'd encourage you to search on Advice Local as well.

You can also speak to an adviser on the Scope Helpline, if you prefer talking through things.

Let us know if you feel we can support you further, and take care this evening :)

That sounds positive @MissCT8676 let us know how you get on with them when you do call.

It's not necessarily lies in the report, but it does sound like the information could be communicated in a clearer way, so that's easier to understand.

I think the whole application process can be very difficult to understand unless you know what you need to explain, and how to do this in the best way. Sometimes there's a lot of jargon used, which can be really unhelpful.

Getting some help and professional advice to support you will be a great way to support you in challenging your PIP decision. I wish you the best of luck with it :)
