Hi poppy.
I was diagnosed with lamber spinal stenosis over two years ago. I put in a sick note on the 4/5/2022. I recently had a work capability assessment on the 31st of May, I was accepted for LCWRA on the 6th of June. Would you be able to tell me when I will receive my first payment and how much it will be please?

Hello and welcome @twiggy66 we are pleased to have you here! I've just merged your two posts so that they are easier to find and for others to share their thoughts :)

    According to Turn2Us:
You may have to wait three full assessment periods from first reporting sick notes for your LCWRA element to be added on. Although there are some instances where it can be added on straight away, such as if you are terminally ill or you were entitled to one of the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) components immediately prior to your Universal Credit claim.

So you may have to wait three assessment periods on from 4/5/2022, if that makes sense?

Let me know if we can help any further, and please do have a look around the forum in the meantime.

    Alex

That's an extremely quick turn around for the work capability assessment. There's a full 3 month waiting period and the extra money isn't paid at all during that time. It's then paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition.
When it's paid from exactly will depend on what date you usually receive your money, or the dates of your monthly assessment periods.
From the information you've given the LCWRA element will be payable from either Sept/Oct 2022 and it's an extra £354.28 per month. Providing you're not claiming UC with a partner that already receives this element on your claim.

You will need a tenancy agreement if claiming help with the rent and privately renting.
If you live in Scotland PIP is changing to the Scottish disability payment so depending on where exactly you live you may need to claim this instead of PIP.
