Direct disability discrimination

Hello,

I wasn’t sure if this was better in here or in the school section, but it’s regarding disability discrimination.

My son is 5 and is diagnosed autistic amongst other things. He has a full EHCP. He is incredibly sensory and has always reacted quite physically during moments of emotional dysregulation which is something he can’t control. He’s currently in mainstream in reception.

Yesterday, at the school run after school club, he went into meltdown and ‘attacked’ a member of staff. She admitted that she likely triggered him by mistake. Today, without warning, the after school club emailed to state that effectively immediately my son is excluded from the club. We’ve had no warnings and haven’t been given the opportunity to appeal this decision. They are excluding him due to his disability. They haven’t even given us an opportunity to put in reasonable adjustments.

Please can you tell me what steps I need to take now? I will fight them on this!

We’ve not actually told him yet.  :(

There were no formal warnings and nothing put in place to mitigate the obvious distress my son was experiencing. It just seems so unfair!
