New Council Property and Partner Moving In?

Hi all, I’m just wondering if anyone can offer advice on this for me please. I’m currently in privately rented accommodation and have been on a council housing waiting list for approximately three years. The council in question is not the district I live in currently, but they allowed me on their list as I have a local connection (my parents) and my Mum helps me due to my disability. They also put me on the list as I need a downstairs toilet and better parking facilities. If I were to be offered a property, then shortly afterwards my partner wanted to move in (initially he will be unemployed and doing a joint UC claim with me but will then be gradually earning due to starting self employment), could the council in question decline him moving in with me? He doesn’t live with me where I am now as he has his own home, but he was planning on moving into my rented accommodation with me probably by the end of this year. I’m just unsure if the council can deny my partner moving in for any reason? I will still be receiving support from my parents and my partner will be classed as my carer. I understand UC can’t have an influence on who’s allowed to move in with me, and I’m comfortable with what I need to do to in terms of doing a joint claim. I’m just unsure if the council can have any influence at all.

Hope this makes sense!

    Hello @7501x

Hope you are managing okay in this heat. Thanks for making this post :)

I'm not certain over whether the council would have any influence, though I don't see why they would say no to it providing you inform them about it. If you get offered a property soon, it could be something you ask them about at that point so that you have an idea about how it will work should you come to your partner moving in further down the line.
