Hi all Im 43 have undiagnosed knee pain, I've been suffering for 12 months its being investigated it prevents me from walking. I use a walking stick. I have mental health issues as well that mean I feel I can't leave the house alone.
I've put in for PIP got declined, then Mandatory reconsideration again declined. I only want to be able to buy a mobility scooter. So I can get out and take my kids to the park. To say I'm devastated is an understatement. Any advice welcome. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the community
Sorry you have been declined
You would need enhanced mobility in order to get a scooter through motability and that's not always the most economical way
If you can walk with a stick then I doubt you would get enhanced pip but that's just my opinion as obviously I don't know how your condition affects you
You can often get cheaper second hand scooters on ebay , or Facebook selling sites
You can also lease them rather than buy a new one and mobility shops sometimes have recon ones -
Not on your own. I also got turned down for P.I.P. I have bladder pain syndrome which means I wee more than others. Told me if I had incontinence, they would give me PI.P. how am I supposed to work with this condition. My heart goes out to you. Sorry I can't advice you, but am sending you comforting hugs. ❤🤗

Sorry I can't advice you, but am sending you comforting hugs. ❤🤗PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis. It's also not about your ability to work, people claim PIP and work. Whether you're entitled to PIP will totally depend on exactly how your conditions affect you. Having incontinence issues doesn't mean you're automatically entitled to PIP.There's 10 daily living activities, whether it's possible to score any points will depend on how your conditions affect you. You need to score at least 8 points for a standard award and at least 12 points for Enhanced.Having some understanding of exactly what the descriptors mean also helps. Have a read of this. https://pipinfo.net/

A walking stick is classed as an aid.Activity 2E Can stand and then move more than 1 metre but no more than 20 metres, either aided or unaided, scores 12 points. https://pipinfo.net/activities/moving-aroundWhether it's possible to score 12 points here will totally depend on how far a person can walk and can they do that activity regularly and reliably. I use a stick always and this is where i scored my points for mobility.Craftycraftings said:Hi all Im 43 have undiagnosed knee pain, I've been suffering for 12 months its being investigated it prevents me from walking. It's not unusal for the MR decision not to change because only around 27% of them do. PIP has 2 parts, daily living and mobility. Whether it's possible to score any points for either of those will totally depend on how your conditions affect you.You can request the Tribunal as your next step if you think you can score enough of points needed for an award. You may also want to get some expert advice from an agency near you to check that it's possible to score those points needed.
