Beware of nissan

If like me you ordered your car from nissan before April you may not be getting the car you ordered,
In February we looked at a 71 plate qashqai n connecta and the spec of the car was perfect for us and we were told it should be delivered first week of June.
What nissan didn't tell us or the dealership was that the spec of the n connecta has changed, it now has no roof rails, no electric boot, no digital dash, 18 inch wheels instead of 19inch and the central screen and software is different so basically it's now an accenta with different wheels and privacy glass.
Our advance payment was £2599 for the n connecta, the accenta was £1349 at the time of ordering.
The delivery date has changed several times and as I write this its estimated week ending 16th September because they're waiting for parts to complete the car (a new style of key)
My dealer has been brilliant throughout all this, nissan on the other hand have been terrible, I spoke to nissan uk and was told either wait for the car in the lesser spec or cancel the order, no help whatsoever,
If you've ordered a nissan before April please check your getting the car you ordered.
Sorry for the long rant...

Thanks for sharing your story @csmpaul, it sounds like it's been a really inconvenient time for you. Hopefully from now on everything goes much more smoothly and you can enjoy your new car when it arrives.

I know the Qashqai changed at some point but no idea if that was March 2022 or the year before. There are very long waiting times for most dealers and new vehicles. Some are waiting a year.
I ordered a Toyota in January and was very lucky to have collected mine in mid April.
If you're not happy with the car you've chosen you can speak to motability to see if your order can be changed before you take delivery. Do be aware though
that advance payments have increased significantly in recent months. You will also likely be waiting even longer.

As poppy says waiting times are getting worse, mainly due to a worldwide shortage of microchips

It's not so much the waiting for the car to be delivered I understand there's issues with semiconductors,
The biggest issue for me is the change in specs, I use a scooter which is kept in the boot so we have to use a roof box if we go away, my roof rack fits to roof rails, the n connecta we looked at had roof rails but from end of march nissan have taken the roof rails off, they've also taken the electric boot, digital dash and 19 inch wheels off among other things.
The current n connecta is basically an accenta with privacy glass and different wheels, all these changes have been made after we ordered ours and we've essentially been told we have to put up with these changes or cancel the order

Are you 100% sure that the N connecta spec had those extra specs? I remember a couple of years ago i went to test drive the Qashqai and the N connecta didn't have the electric boot or the 19" wheels. The N connecta had 18" wheels.
It was the Tekna and Tekna+ that had those. I was so certain i was correct i had a quick google and found the spec of the 2020 model, which is the model before the current one. Here you go. https://www.independentage.org/information/support-care/support-for-carers/when-your-caring-role-ends
The 2022 spec is very similar to the above spec but the body styling was changed. You can see the different models here and it does say the the Tekna  and Tekna+ both have 19" wheels and the automatic boot opening. https://www.nissan.co.uk/vehicles/new-vehicles/qashqai.html#C402_cmp_feature_f845-modal
Someone has confused the 2 different specs.
N connecta 2022 doesn't have either of those, the same as the 2020 model.

The tekna and tekna plus should have 20inch wheels and different rear suspension, check out the reviews on YouTube for the new model release,
When we viewed the car it was a 71 plate n connecta we looked at, it had all the missing features plus the optional glass roof,
My local dealer has been brilliant throughout and when we found out about all the changes he was as confused as I am because nissan hadn't told them about any changes for the cars 22 plate onwards until May of this year so anyone who's ordered one before may based on seeing the 71 plate isn't going to get the car they expect

So you’re saying that the Nissan website with all the details of all the specs are completely wrong? Strange!

No not at all, I'm saying the specs have changed,
since the launch of the new model the specs have changed partly due to the supply issues the car industry is having but nissan didn't tell anyone until after they had done it, if you could look at a 71 plate n connecta then look at the 22 plate car you would see the differences,
What I'm saying is we ordered the car based on what we saw on the 71 plate demonstrator our dealership had in February but nissan are sending out a car in the new lesser specification
