Good Afternoon,
My son is due to start employment next month and he is receiving UC. Does he have to notify UC Dwp or will they be notified naturally through his National Insurance number.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
James

Once he starts working he needs to report a change of circumstances and tell them he's working. If he's PAYE then DWP will receive information from HMRC regarding his earnings. If he's not entitled to the work allowance then earnings received during the monthly assessment period will reduce his UC by 55%.

okay @poppy123456 thank you very much. and is there are a certain limit you can earn

His maximum amount depends on his age and other circumstances. Then the amount paid is the maximum amount minus the earnings deduction.0

There’s no earnings limit. Of course the more he earns the less UC he will be entitled to. Whether there’s any entitlement to UC once he receives his earnings will totally depend on his circumstances.0

Best of luck to your son on his new job @james19o6 Let us know how he gets on!0
