Hi I am 58 I have Fibromyelgia I have been on oramorph for a few years it's is the only thing that has helped my pain . A couple of months ago I was told I had to come off because of research that says it doesn't  help long term chronic pain.  I pointed out it did help me but it made no difference I was made to switch the tablet equivalent if oramorph.  Since going on them they are no where near as effective as the liquid I told my Dr thus she was very patronising . I am coming off it slowly but my pain levels have shot through the roof I am in pain constantly  . I have been told that no other medication will be given until the opiates is  out of my system . I am at my wits end and feel like I have gone back several years to before I was given oramorph.  I just don't know what to do . Xxxxx

Good morning @Frugirl58 and welcome to our online community.

It sounds as if you're really struggling at the moment and dealing with chronic pain is really really hard, especially if you feel unsupported by your GP. Have a have a look around our forum and you may find some discussion threads that resound with you and there is one about chronic pain which you may find useful. We can't give advice about medication but we can share our experiences and support one another.

Do tell us a bit more about yourself if you would like to. Do you have any interests or hobbies that you would like to share with us ?

Thanks for sharing this with us @Frugirl58. I can hear how tough it is to be withdrawn from something which you have found helpful because others disagree. If we can do anything to help please don't hesitate to let us know. We are all here for you  :)

Chronic pain can be difficult to deal with, can't it @MillieMay? How do you manage your pain? With fibromyalgia, I find heat helpful but I know for others ice helps the most. Others will find an even broader range of things to help them - I truly believe it is different for everyone  :)

    Hi,
I find heat helps me as does my meds sometimes, distracting myself with hobbies and resting.
