Hi, my name is billyeva! When will my payment be backdated to?

hi there, i am new here and this is my 1st post. I currently receive Income based ESA and the highest awards for both forms of PIP the care and living components. My ESA also includes the lowest form of the 3 disability premiums of £17. But my dad died 4 months ago and he was my full time paid carer and since then i have struggled mightily. After contacting different agencies they managed to get me to be able to get the council charging me council tax and last Monday 25/7/22 I rang up and i applied for the severe disability premium component of ESA which is £****.70, it was very brief, 3 questions and lasted 2 minutes, then all i got was a text on the Thursday from the DWP saying i had been successful as i now live alone and a payment will be in my bank on the 2/8/22. The text said do not call, it didn't even mention if any letters would be sent out. Does anyone know if this payment will be backdated to the day my father passed or will it just be paid from the day i claimed. Any help would be hugely grateful, thank Dave

The SDP should be backdated to the date you met the qualifying conditions.

Sorry for your loss. It should be backdated to the date you become entitled to it. You will receive the decision letter in the post in a couple of weeks.

thank you for your feedback, that is what i gathered from the research i was able to gather which is about 13 weeks which is when my dad passed and thats when i have been living alone without him as my carer.

thank you for your kind words, yes thats what i have sort have been advised and roet of researched myself. hopefully i receive a letter, because everthing i claim for always demand a prof of what my benefit status is, and i already have a letter breaking down the different  components of my PIP and the totals etc. (for my amputations, epilepsy, ptsd, COPD, to name a few) but because of the problems especially memory loss and manic episodes i need to have everything written down and at hand or else everyhting is forgotten as soon as i am told them, so  thanks again for writing your advice.

thank you for kindly allowing me in, yes they certainly have, if i have any more questions i will certainly ask. thanks for your kind words, well i lost my mam 14 years ago and dad nearly 4 months ago and my only other relative is my sister who lives 40 miles away in Northumberland, i live in Seaham in County Durham, and she runs her own Pub so her getting time off is difficult, but she rings me 3 times per day. and I am receiving plenty of help from my therapy group that i am a member off and find great comfort in that. I mean i am 45 now but have suffererd mental health problems since my late teens and have seen so many therapist/physiologists and have always found the best solution is some form of CBT, as every depression med has always made things so much worse (personally for me) but to answer your question i am finally getting over the grieving process, but living by tourself is tough, thats why i always advocate for some sort of therapy, preferably group where friends can be made.
