Support service for adult in the higher end of the autistic spectrum. Any suggestions?

I am under the care of adult social services. I, and social services, are looking for a support service, or individual support person, who can support an adult at the higher end of the autistic spectrum, i.e, myself. Do you have any suggestions?

    Would you be able to tell us a little more about what kind of support you feel you could benefit from? For example, is it practical support, emotional support, etc.?

    Hello Alex_Scope. There are 2 types of support I am looking for. Firstly I am looking for support from a cognitive specialist because of my learning difficulties. Getting my local council to accept it and fund it has been the biggest issue. As a result I am involved in a legal case with them.

    The second type of support I am looking for, which I am seeking advice about, is an organisation or individual who can support an autistic person like myself who is at the higher end of the autistic spectrum. I am looking for a service or an individual who can deal with what I would call the practical 'headaches' of independent living. An organisation or individual who has the intelligence to come up with alternative options to deal with individuals and organisations ( such as my landlords, my local council or Royal Mail) who create problematic situations that I am constantly having to deal with. 

    My council have had me working with a couple of council commissioned care providers. But their support workers are not up to the job of knowing what to do when I am having all these problems created by organisations and individuals. The support workers demonstrate that my life requires a specialist organisation or individual to be working with.

    Hmm, I suppose I'm not 100% sure @uk71. Have you looked into advocacy at all? The NHS have a page on it. Perhaps you could take a look, and let us know what you think? 

    I'm wondering whether the National Autistic Society might be able to point you in the direction of something specifically designed for individuals with autism, too. Have you ever tried contacting them? 

    Please do let us know how you get on with securing support from a cognitive specialist! Are you receiving expert advice to help you with your case?

    I can look again into advocacy.

    I have considered contacting the National Autistic Society. But their website seems to suggest that they don't give advice. I need to see whether this is the case 

    Yes I have instructed a law firm to take on my case with adult social services.

    How are things going for you at the moment @uk71? According to the National Autistic Society website, they do provide advice.
