@Christinew_25 hopefully it wont be too long till you find out.0

Just to update…there’s no update lol. Still waiting for a decision, 7 weeks so far. Now passed the assessment period and on 4th month now so consoling myself that if it’s not sorted by next payment (24th) then my son will at least be able to get backdated afterwards. Such a long wait, doesn’t help that he gets numerous UC notifications which get you excited only to see it’s a job fair notification lol.0

Thanks for keeping us all in the loop @Christinew_25, hopefully before long you'll get the outcome you're looking for
If anything else comes up in the meantime, just let us know.1 -
Well I’m now more confused than ever. This morning I popped a note in the journal to see if my son might be entitled to the 2nd cost of living payment. He falls into the assessment dates but some people on social media have said if u weren’t entitled to the first one which he wasn’t then he wouldn’t be entitled to 2nd one. So I thought I’d clarify and also check on any news from decision maker on the wca. Response: a) they don’t know check government website n b) no evidence of decision makers having the report? I directed them to THEIR journal entry on august 17 stating report from doctors received and now being passed to decision makers, no reply to this though. So after waiting 7 weeks thinking we’re in decision makers stage after UC told me this themselves, now I don’t even know if it’s passed the assessment stage. Got work coach meeting on 24th and depending what he tells me I might just give up on this all together. I don’t mind waiting, I do mind my son being messed about.0

Christinew_25 said:He falls into the assessment dates but some people on social media have said if u weren’t entitled to the first one which he wasn’t then he wouldn’t be entitled to 2nd one. This is not correct at all, the first payment has nothing to do with the 2nd payment. You will be eligible for the second Cost of Living Payment of £324 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022.With regards to the work capability assessment, you can ring the Health Assessment Advisory Service yourself to ask if the assessment report was returned and they will tell you. The number is 0800 288 8777.It would be a shame to cancel his UC claim now because he would have no money at all.

Thank you poppy, just feeling like nothing is going right just now so when folk on social media said that I thought “that’s about right with the way my luck is just now”. Just a little tired of it all, I won’t give up his claim, he’s had to sacrifice his full-time college hours to see this through so it won’t be for nothing under my watch. I’ll give that number a ring tomorrow and see what they know. I’m just looking for a bit of hope, can get through anything as long as there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again Poppy.0

No worries. When you says social media, do you mean facebook? If so then the best advice i can give you is stay away from those groups because they are well known for giving incorrect advice and information.Full criteria for COL payment is here. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cost-of-living-payment#low-income-benefits-and-tax-credits

Yes Facebook, there’s lots of benefit groups there and I joined about 5 of them, it was helpful when waiting for the very first col payment as I panicked when it didn’t go in n saw lots were the same but there seems to be a lot of conflicting advice there too, hard to know what’s right or wrong. I’ll be staying away from now on, don’t need the added stress lol. Thank you for the link too.0

I joined a group on there quite a few years ago. I very quickly found how much incorrect information they were giving so I left. Terrible place for advice.1

@Christinew_25 At least you now know the Scope community is one of the best for advice1

Aw, this is amazing to hear! Thanks @bg8441

After all of that, I’m pleased to report I got the notification on UC today that my son has been awarded LCWRA! So happy the wait is over and no more work coach appointments. So my question is: first fit note was handed in June 27th, assessment dates are 17th -18th monthly starting in June, so my son is due his usual UC on 24th October. Is he likely to get the new amount on 24th or will it be more likely to be in November? Just trying to sort monthly budget n I’d ask the journal but given they rarely seem to know anything I think I’d get more reliable information from you fine people lol.1
-
Good news. When you started his claim did you report his health condition at the same time? If you did then his waiting period will be June to Sept. LCWRA starts from AP Sept 18th to Oct 17th and first payment will be 24th October.
If you didn’t then his waiting period will be July to Oct. LCWRA first payment would be November 24th.0 -
Yeah I reported it with the initial claim as I had to be his appointee and get them to talk with me rather than my son since he has no understanding of any of this stuff bless. So straight away they were informed and then the first appointment to verify identity I took doctors letters and that’s when they said to get a fit note asap to get ball rolling which I had sorted the following day. Thanks for the info, just rather ask you than them as they are so confusing lol.0
-
If the Fit Note was later than 7 days after start of claim they may delay when the LCWRA element is payable from.0
-
I first applied online on 18th June and handed first fit note on 24th June and it was approved on the 25th (going through the journal as I type lol) so technically it was 6 days but day 7 it was approved. The statement will be ready on 20th so I’ll know for sure next week, the main part is sorted so not going to stress over it, just a little bit nosey lol.0
