Hello there
i am looking for some advice
I have been awarded lcwra and am owed £3400
i am told it has been referred to uc debt recovery to offset an old overpayment of around £2000
fies this mean they will clear the full debt or take a percentage of it as surely this money is meant to be my entitlement due to my health condition . I am already making small monthly payments to this debt.
any advice please?
thank you 😊

Evening @shellsy98 and welcome to the community :)

Thanks for joining us and posting your first thread, I hope you are managing to get used to the layout of the site, and if you have any questions about the community then don't hesitate to ask them :)

I can understand that it may have come across as a surprise when it was referred to debt recovery, and I imagine it isn't the most convenient news when you'd rather have the money in your account as soon as possible. However, it is something they do fairly often when there is money owed, I'm not completely certain but I think they'll use it to pay it all off.

Again, I appreciate it isn't ideal, but if they do use it to pay it all off at least that's something you no longer need to worry about :)

I have moved your thread over to our UC category, which has many other discussions about LCWRA and backpay in case you want to read about the experience of other users.

Yes they can use the money they owe you to pay the debt off in full, even though you're already paying in back monthly.

    Hi and welcome

Unfortunately this is something they do which is logical if you owe them money then they don't owe you so will recover the debt and pay you what is left over
