Hello just asking for a friend they were on ESA in the support group and transferred to universal by themselves will they need an assessment for work capability or will they continue to get ESA?

The ESA Support Group status should transfer across to UC as LCWRA. It can take a few weeks for this to happen. UC may ask for a Fit Note while this happens.
if any of the ESA was contribution based then that part of the ESA will continue and will be paid separately from UC (but it will be deducted from the UC).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK. -
