In the Bobath Centre’s 65th year, they have launched a petition calling for free specialist therapy for people with cerebral palsy, throughout their lifetime.
Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition caused by brain damage around the time of birth.
Too many people in England cannot access the specialist therapy they need and lack the funds to pay for private therapy sessions themselves. So, Scope has joined with CPotential and the Bobath Centre campaign movement in asking for FREE specialist therapy for people with cerebral palsy for pain management and mobility.

The research highlighted that:
- There’s a lack of access to therapy to manage pain: 91% of people use therapy to manage their pain associated with cerebral palsy and reported therapy is more important for their pain relief than medication
- The majority of people with cerebral palsy lack access to health services – 59% of adults and 42% of children lack access to adequate healthcare services to fully meet their needs
- Adults with cerebral palsy disproportionately experience poverty and unemployment: 23% revealed that they barely had enough money to make ends meet
- COVID has disproportionately impacted people with cerebral palsy by causing a regression in their physical health through shielding and self-isolation.
