Hi, I hope you are well.I receive PIP and was awarded based on a paper assessment, so no phone or in person assessment was required for me, so it does happen, it’s just not as common.I hope this helps1

Indeed, they are called paper based assessments but an assessment report (PA3) will still be written.

Hello I thought I would post this incase it helped anybody else.
This morning i received a text message saying a decision had be made on my pip review and I would receive a letter within two weeks.
I filled out my review form back in February of this year and have received a text every couple of months saying a decision had not been made and to let them know if my circumstances changed.
Anyway this time round I have had no assesment at all! Which I'm obviously happy about, but thought there had to be some kind of mistake when I got that message this morning.
I rang up and I've been awarded the current rate of pip that I'm currently on till 2027. I must have had a paper assesment, as prior to this time I've had to have assessments on all my previous reviews.

Hi all. In October I applied for Pip. I received the forms 2 weeks later and filled them in with help and sent a lot of medical information. I received notification that they had received the forms back . About 2 weeks later I had txts and letters from Capita about a assignment phone call on the 4th December. Txt continued right up until 15 mins before the appointment time when I received a phone call to say that it was being cancelled and they would have to reschedule. Today I received a txt from DWP saying a health professional was looking at my claim and if they needed an appointment with me they would be in touch and to contact DWP if my circumstances change? Can someone explain this? As I'm confused now . Will I still get another appointment for phone accesment ?

Hi @trisha238, this is quite a common text to receive. You might still get another appointment for a phone assessment after this, or in some circumstances they might do a paper-based assessment instead. That would mean they'd use the information from your forms rather than ring you for an assessment. It's more likely that you'd have a phone call though. Hopefully they'll be in touch soon with the next steps 😊

Hi Rosie_Scope. Thank you for reply . Yes I did wonder that. I sent in alot of paper work. It just seems funny that I didn't get the same txt before the appointment date for the 4th ? I guess I will just have to wait and see x

Sometimes assessments can be cancelled if the assessor isn't available to the day, or if your assessment was later in the day and other assessments carried on for longer than expected. Once another appointment becomes available you will be contacted.

Hi
The accesment was at 9.15 in the morning. I was contacted at 9 to say it had been cancelled

It could be that the assessor was sick and so couldn't do their appointments that day.

It's frustrating but it happens. At least it was a telephone assessment so you were at home, rather than on your way to the assessment as that happened to me once.

I just wondered why I got the txt from DWP this morning when I didn't get one before when I was contacted by Capita about the previous accesment. Just seemed strange

Sometimes they do send texts like this, though I would have expected them to send it before your first assessment was booked. It doesn't make any difference really that you received it after the assessment was cancelled. It's true what the text said "the assessors are dealing with your claim" it doesn't mean anything other than that.

It can take up to a couple of weeks to receive the form. Are you also aware that PIP isn't awarded based on the conditions itself. Whether it's possible to score more points needed for a higher award will depend on how your conditions affect you.
A new condition or a worsening of condition doesn't automatically entitle you to more points.
They will review your whole award and not just the mobility part. You need to make sure you fill in the form with as much relevant information as possible.
Once the decision is made your award could either remain the same, be increased, decreased or stop completely.
