To be clear - are they claiming JSA or UC?0

Jsa0

Is that the old type of income based JSA or is it new style JSA?
What benefits do you receive apart from PIP?0 -
Its the old style.im on esa0

They will be paid Carer's Allowance but this will be deducted from the JSA. Their maximum JSA will however be increased by the carer premium, Their overall benefit will increase by £38.85.
However, if you are getting the old income based ESA are you getting the Severe Disability Premium in your ESA? You will lose the SDP if they claim ESA (costing you £69.40/week). You are entitled to the SDP if you are single, receiving daily Living PIP, and no one claims Carers Allowance (or the carer element of UC) for looking after you.
Above assumes the flat mate is not an immediate relative.
