Possible PIP Appeal

Hello,
This is my first post or second post if you count the hello post.
Due to my mobility and personal care issues (I have cerebral palsy which affects my right side of my body), I finally applied for a PIP award as I keep tripping up on the pavement when I'm out walking from time to time.
I had a telephone consultation and was awarded the lower rate of personal care only. My friend who helped me to fill out the application form suggested I should appeal against the non-award of the mobility part. She receives lower rate of mobility PIP/DLA and tells me I have less mobility than her.
The appeal period has come and gone however I have an appointment with the occupational therapist in December. Should I wait until then for a possible appeal?
Thanks
Steve

You have 13 months from the date of decision to submit a MR (Mandatory Reconsideration). This would be the first step you would need to take before appealing to a tribunal service. Please note, the PIP Decision Maker may refuse you simply because you have submitted the request outside of the 1 month period, if this happens you can then submit to a tribunal anyway. MRs can take between 2-12 weeks and there is no way around this I’m afraid. To check if you would qualify for a higher award you would need to check the PIP points system and see if a higher descriptor would apply to you.

You might want to consider seeking professional help should you find this confusing.0 -

On a separate note, PIP payments are made monthly. When do these payments take account of the 'extra' week in the month?0 -

I would imagine it works in any spreadsheet too.Just in case you do.......If you put the date of your 1st payment in A1.In A2 put this formula: "A1+4*7" (without quotation marks)The result in A2 will be the next date of your payment.Drag A2 down the column and you will see all the dates of your payments including the "double month".Your payment dates, starting on the 30th August (including double month) will be:30 08 2022 27 09 2022 25 10 2022 22 11 2022 20 12 2022 17 01 2023 14 02 2023 14 03 2023 11 04 2023 09 05 2023 06 06 2023 04 07 2023 01 08 2023 29 08 2023
