Hello,

It's been a while since I connected here. I have one question, I normally apply for the Warm Discount Scheme via my utility supplier. This year applic process is different and can no longer apply via my utility supplier.  Can someone advise me the process of applying for the Home Warm Discount Scheme please?!?  Many thanks in advance.

There is no process for applying this year. People will qualify automatically but the final details have not yet been published.

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2022/03/warm-home-discount-reforms-/

The key feature that is unclear, as far as I know, is that eligibility will include details of your property and I don’t know how this will work.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    Hi @Sheree_8

I live in Scotland and received an email from my provider yesterday to apply for the Warm home discount.
But could be different in other parts off the UK.

Yes the rules in Scotland are different to England this year. Not sure what the rules are for Wales.

    Good morning everyone.

I also used to have to apply through my energy supplier as I am not in the Core group 1 as I was put on new style ESA after my SSP stopped a couple of years ago.
i will not now be entitled to the warm home discount at all of £150 due to the £150 disability cost of living payment I will receive shortly so once again people who are on PIP  and new style ESA are going to be no better off as they give it to us in one hand and take it back in the other hand.

Would like to hear other members views on this, when will this government get it right !!!

The £150 disability payment has nothing to do with whether or not you qualify for warm home discount.

You cannot be put on new style ESA - you must have applied for it.

Part of the criteria is you need to be claiming a qualifying means tested benefit, are you claiming any of those? Just claiming PIP doesn't qualify you this year, if you live in England or Wales.

    Hi
    Do you know the criteria?

The criteria are rather opaque this year because of the ‘high energy costs’ part of qualifying, there is nothing explaining exactly how this is being determined but it is described in this

They have got it right; at great cost to the nation, the government is giving £billions to households to help them through the difficult times.

Your health conditions make no difference to your eligiblity to the WHD. As i advised it's not just based on the benefits you claim anymore, if you live in either England or Wales. Yes, i realise you used to receive it but the rules this year are different. They also look at the size and age of the property you live in. I received it for years but don't qualify this year.
You can check if you qualify here but you'll need to know the size and age of your home.
