PIP MANDATORY RECONSIDERATION

Hi everyone
So yesterday I got my PIP award notice and I've been awarded standard rate for mobility but nothing for daily living. I'm only two points shy of being awarded the daily living component and having read through the descriptors I strongly feel that I should have been awarded 10 points as opposed to the 6 I did score. Do you think it's worth me doing a mandatory reconsideration? My worry is losing my entitlement completely. I scored a straight 10 on the mobility assessment. Does anyone think I would lose my entitlement? Do you think I would stand a food chance with a MR? Please share your stories if you have any experience with this as I am new to it all. Many Thanks

The most likely outcome of any MR is the decision will remain the same. Only about 27% of decisions change at this stage. This means you'll very likely need to take it to Tribunal. If you do go ahead and request it then you should put it in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points.Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each activity that applies to you. Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exacetly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. You should aim for at least half an A4 side of paper per descriptor that applies.Decision timescales are between 2-12 weeks.

It is possible for your award to be decreased when appealing but it is very rare to happen.
From what you've written it sounds as though you have done your research and are certain of the descriptors you feel you should have been awarded which helps.
If you decide to continue with a mandatory reconsideration, focus on these areas you believe you should have been awarded points and why. Provide as much anecdotal evidence as you can, at least 2 detailed descriptions of what happened the last few times you've attempted and activity and the support you needed or had and why.
In all likelihood the MR won't change the outcome as the win percentage is very low so be aware that it may mean you need to go to tribunal, where successful outcomes are much higher.0 -
Thanks both. Also, my income support has increased due to my pip award. Whilst I'm doing the MR would my payments stop? And therefore my entitlement to the income support premium?
