Star Trek and disability-- how do you think they did?

I recently wrote a big blog post about Geordi La Forge, the blind helsman and engineer in Star Trek: The Next Generation. In some ways I thought they did a great job with his character, in other ways they totally missed the point. The piece has proven to be pretty controversial with non-disabled trek fans, but I'd love to hear how people in our community react to it, since I really wrote it for us. As somebody with a physical disability, I'd especially love to hear what people with visual or auditory impairments think of the whole topic! Did I leave anything out? Do you disagree with me? Let me know!

Hello @chronic_and_iconic and thanks for sharing your blog post, it sounds like a great read! I've often thought about the character of Geordi since watching 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' growing up, so I'll be sure to dedicate some time to reading what you've written :)
