Hi everyone. My teenage son has CP and he’s desperate to make friends - does anyone have any advice? It’s so isolating

Hello there @CarenMitch1 and thanks for taking the time to reach out on the community To help our members share their thoughts more easily I've moved your post over into our Cerebral Palsy category.
I can also tag @Richard_Scope who is our CP information officer as I'm sure he can lend his advice too.
What interests or hobbies does your son have? Is there anything at school that he might be able to join in with?
A lot of people do socialise online via their shared interests, or there might be things in your local area you could look into?
I have CP myself and it can be tough growing up to really feel "part of the group" sometimes, so I can appreciate how you're both feeling. It became easier the older I got, and it helped that I found friends with the same interests at university, or later through volunteering and work.
There's also the community here of course, your son would be welcome to join and chat with other members, if that's something he would like.
Let us know if we can help further with anything, and we'll do what we can to assist

Thanks Alex, I appreciate your help. He’s 19 and at a mainstream
college, and nobody wants to be friends although he’s so friendly. He is a huge gaming fan and often looks for people to play online. His cp also extends to learning diffs so trying to find the right thing for him is difficult. We’ve had a tough time with someone who he thought was a friend ghosting him which has knocked him for six. Wish people would just be kind!

Hi @CarenMitch1
Good to meet you and thanks for posting. Would your son be interested in contacting CP Teens?
It is not very nice when people ghost like that. It is important that your son realises that sometimes people are just like that and that it is not a reflection upon him in any way.1 -
That would be amazing, thanks so much! How do we join please?1

Hi there, my son is hoping to join one of the CP teens meetings soon. He’s a bit shy so he might find it tricky. Still feel a bit isolated tbh. It’s difficult when I also have a five year old as I can’t just go to groups with Cam. Anyway we’ll keep trying and thanks for asking!1
