Hi there I applied for pip with help from citizen advice bureau the DWP sent me a txt to say they received it on 10th August 2022 then out blue no confirmation of phone call no nothing someone calls me from pip last Thurs said that they wanted to ask a few questions ie- planning and following a journey my medication and mixing with people ! That was it ! Can anyone help in why would DWP so this without no prior letter to say they was going to call ? Since then heard nothing I am still recieving Dla middle care untill there decision which went into bank today so they have not made a decision on my claim. Yet can anyone tell me if this was a paper based assessment interview? I've tried to contact cab to speak to the person that helped with form but no success now I'm.panicking as if I need help with more advice no one is answering the phone !!!

@scraggs It may well of been that no assessment is needed and they will do a paper-based one which is usually very positive. If you receive a text saying ‘we’ve received your report’ this will be that, confirmed.
Good luck and please do come back to let us know. :)

If a paper based assessment can be completed it will be. Once the report is written it will be returned to DWP. If a paper based assessment can't be completed then you'll need an assessment. If you put a mobile number down on the form they will text you once the report is returned. If you haven't received one then it's not been returned yet.
All you can do is wait now. To be honest you haven't really been waiting that long so far. Once the report is returned a decision can take between 2-12 weeks.

As i previously advised, if a paper based assessment can be completed they will do that. Sometimes they ring without any notice if they have some questions to ask before deciding if a paper based assessment can be completed. If it can then the assessment report will be written and returned to DWP.
The reason you weren't sent an appointment is because it wasn't an assessment as such. It does happen and is perfectly normal.

Hi poppy it was a assesment I had the phone call that lasted 10 mins just a few questions I have now received a txt from DWP to say they have received my assesment report and they will make a decision within 8 weeks so cab that told me it wasn't a assesment was wrong as I have confirmation that it was a assesment this was the call I had out of the blue with no warning. Can I now ask for copy of the assessment report?? And who do I phone ? And do you know the number I phone ?

CAB weren't wrong, it's wouldn't have been a full assessment at all. As i previously advised you've had a paper based assessment, sometimes before doing these they will ring you to ask some questions before deciding if the report can be written without an assessment. Just because the report has now been returned this doesn't mean the phone call was the assessment.
You need to ring PIP for the report..

Good morning can someone advise I applied for pip 1st time and I now have been awarded ( which I'm happy about 🙂) the question I would like to ask is that I was on dla just middle rate care I applied for pip in July got awarded last week still waiting for letter of confirmation but have had txt to say I've been awarded, I phoned the automated line of pip and it tells me my next payment will be on the 23rd December which is pip ? And today my normal dla middle care has been paid ? Should they pay the difference between my dla and pip backdated from when I 1st applied ? And also is £605 awarded enhanced on both? I am also in private rented home which one bed only is paid will also the benefit cap be lifted ? I'm all confused about the dla to pip decision and why I'm not getting paid the difference ? Any advice appreciated 🙂💕

Good news. When transferring from DLA if the PIP award is higher then you won't be owed any money. This rule has applied since PIP was introduced in April 2013. Your first PIP payment will be about 7 weeks after the decision was made. The decision letter will tell you exactly when your first payment will be.
Your DLA payment that you received today is correct and you will likely receive one final payment before your first PIP payment next month.

The benefit cap didn't apply to you anyway because you were claiming DLA. If you live alone or with a partner then the 1 bedroom rate of local housing allowance is correct.
PIP Enhanced for both parts is £627.60 every 4 weeks. The automated payment line often gives incorrect information.

Well done on your successful PIP claim @scraggs :) I bet that's a weight off of your mind?

All mine and my partner's assessments have been paper based except the very first for Income Support well over a decade ago. Years of experience has taught me how to fully complete the application process though. I hope it stays that way. Hate seeing assessors.

This was first time application was shocked at how quick it was and all the time it has taken me to pluck up the courage to apply as was too frightened to 😢 I have actually got to find out my award as I had letter from council tax with my award on enhanced for both so I'm happy at least I know but not sure how long award is as letter has not arrived yet 🙂
