Benefit caped

Hi just want to ask you i am benefit caped on Universal credit. And recently awarded Pip so i have been trying to call UC asking the lady if still be caped if recently get pip she said Yes i will be. I am not sure as i was reading i wont be affected after pip. Any answers? Thanks

As is so often the case you have been given the wrong advice.
If you are in receipt of PIP you are excluded from the benefit cap.
https://www.gov.uk/benefit-cap/when-youre-not-affected
If your PIP award has been backdated (as I would expect it to be) UC need to recalculate all of your payments up to when the PIP award starts from too.
Report the award of PIP and then post a payment query and ask that they remove the benefit cap back to xxxx.

Hi i have been writing in to my journal to be backdated and this what they told mean under-payment has generated but
because you have debt with the
DWP we have to offer the payment to Debt Management to potentially use against what you owe. You will receive a letter in your journal explaining this.

Yes, if you owe them money they can take this from any money they owe you. Once debt management have made a decision you will receive a letter on your journal.

It appears that you owe debt, in which case it can be fully deducted from your PIP back payment. They have every right to demand payment for outstanding debt. At least it will be paid off, and won't have it hanging over you.0
