Hi guys,
So just wanna know something. I recently had my PIP assessment back in July of this year and basically its the same as a lot of people, Assessor left out or made up what was in the discussion (I told them i had gone to part time at work and had a detailed occupational health assessment done at work to help me cope and they reported no changes to work place)
However I record all my calls as part of my ADHD/ASD is that I'm very forgetful so I listen back to calls sometimes to ensure what I've said on that call
So technically I secretly recorded my PIP assessment. What I want to know is, can I use this as my Tribunal? I know I'm allowed to record calls for my own personnel reasons providing I do not breach data protection which I have not done and not posted it anywhere but will a Tribunal accept the recording. Has anyone else got experience with this?
Sorry if this has been repeated but I cant find anything about this since 2018 and was wondering if any new procedures are now in place. I know capita allow you to record it now but you need to tell them and they do it through there own systems but i didn't realise this could be done at the time of my assessment and they didn't mention it at all in their booklet they sent to me0 -
Are you having problems posting? I notice you've posted 4 other threads but haven't finished off your questions.Your title says "PIP recording" but you haven't mentioned that in your question. Did you mean to type more before posting the comment?0

You will not be able to use the recording at your Tribunal because HMCTS have no equipment to be able to listen to it. You will need to have it professionally transcribed for you to be able to use it.The recording will also not get you a PIP award. What you need to do is concentrate on the weakness in your evidence. If you haven't already done this then you should give a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies to you. Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. You should aim for at least half an A4 side of paper per descriptor that applies.1

Thank you for your reply, yeah thought I would have too and as the call was 25 minutes I think I can get this done professionally. They allow me to upload mp3 recordings but it seems weird that I can upload but they can't listen too it. Kinda defeats the purpose of the ability to upload haha!
Thank you for the advice, have done this in detail for each descriptor using the PIP assessment 2 webpage (which i got from your advice on another post) and have done exactly that, describe what was said on the call, which "reliability" I feel its on and also giving a real world example of what happen and what was happened of it not being done correctly, think it came to around 16 a4 pages in total so hoping the court will actually read it and not just pass blame to capita like the DWP did.
i'll be back in a year to let you know how it went0 -
If you ever have any questions or just fancy a chat with other members you're more than welcome to come back to the community anytime @Tronster
I'm glad poppy was able to advise you, and I look forward to hearing how things go for you.
If you want to have a look around, a good place to start is the Coffee Lounge where you can get to know people and play games as well.

Hey, so just an update about this... so the court sent me a directions order asking if I had consent for the recording to go ahead and was also asking if I had a transcript of the call... I got one made professionally, and it wasn't that expense (around £20).Just posting here for updates just to let people know if they're going through the same.as me.. what happens and how the case goes. I'm feeling like if someone's in my position they can look at this ans hopefully know what to do and also what not to do haha0

Thank you for sharing @Tronster I'm sure your update will be helpful for anyone in a similar situation as you say
Please keep us up to date with how things progress, wishing you the best of luck.0 -
So the DWP have accepted for the recording to be submitted, never thought that would be the case, just waiting for a court date now

Hi Guys
So as promised I thought I would give an update on this
So I have been awarded PIP, got Enhanced Daily Care and Standard Mobility
The judge was extremely grateful for the recording, it allowed the panel to come to the correct concussion much quicker as they said there where "inconsistencies" with the report and has suggested the DWP to investigate this. The Presenting officer did not argue or contest anything once the recording was heard.
So the advice I would give is ALWAYS have the call recorded, I feel it keeps people honest about everything. If you're doing it face to face ask again, if they cant do it then ask for someone to scribe it. or scribe it yourself.
I was also asked about my driving licence and they spend quite a bit of time on that, they also asked about clothes and would I keep wearing dirty clothes. Thing to point out for other people who lack the awareness to change clothes if they are soiled/stained (food stains i mean).
The panel where lovely, the doctor asked me 2 questions and the autism/ADHD specialist asked a lot more but asked the correct questions to help them better evaluate the situation.0 -

You can record it yourself with a phone. You need to tell them that you will be recording it.0
