I don't know about you, but I love settling down to watch a TV show I find comforting, especially in the winter.
What are your favourite comfort TV shows?
I'll start with one of mine: Peep Show

A "comfort show" for me has to be very gentle, not political, no room for arguments or debates, not raising any issues like things in the news or social issues.
I'd say Keeping Up Appearances with Mrs. Bucket.
Or, maybe Fawlty Towers.
Or Top Gear/The Grand Tour - although they do raise some issues in that show and it can get a bit heated.3 -
Friends is my number one, because you can watch it completely out of order and it doesn't matter. And it's always on TV!
But Peep Show, The Office (US), That 70s Show are some other favourites!1 -
Those are some good suggestions @66Mustang I have to say that I mainly watch documentaries, including when I want to relax, which aren't always the most gentle/non-controversial!
Ah yes, The US Office is another good one @chelseadagger The UK one might be too awkward for comfort watching1 -
Downton Abbey or something similar
I also like great British bake off and masterchef Australia1 -
I enjoy Doc Martin immensely, also all creatures great and small. I also used to like Home improvement with Tim Allen.2

@Siwheels73 I do agree with you on that I don't mind the 2 guys but find the lady quite annoying1

@Tori_Scope Peep show very good I also like the other show they do, back it's called.
My comfort shows its always sunny in Philadelphia, modern family, curb your enthusiasm ( Larry David also did the writing for Seinfeld), archer, Rick and Morty. Just realized I have too many comfort shows lol but that's a few of them2 -
QI is my usual 'final wind down' before bed. I watch a lot of Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon during the day.
For me, there are some triggers in the majority of programs, but I know where they all are in those shows now and can just flip channels for a couple of minutes where necessary!
If I'm feeling really unwell and need something super calm with no chance of triggers then I'll use Garden Rescue or Antiques Roadtrip.

Call the midwife for me. I feel so relaxed watching this even though some of topocs on the programmes can be difficult to watch1

The Last Leg, Two Doors Down, Alma’s Not Normal, Have I Got News for You.
I find that laughing is a great healer and it can help you to get through most things, even at the darkest times, laughter can sometimes be the best medicine.2 -
Loving this thread so far! Looking forward to hearing anyone else's recommendations if anyone else wishes to share0
