Hi I need some advice and hoping someone could possibly help or point me in the right direction please.
my my is currently getting PIP standard allowance care and standard mobility. It was recently renewed with an ongoing award.
She was finished from work 18 months ago due to ill health and is currently on universal credit with LCWRA part.  Although she will get her pension next year so this will stop.
as she is now needing more help I was wondering if I could get carers allowance for her but if I did would this impact her or her payments in any way. Also how may hrs can I work while on it etc.  I’m trying to work out what the best solution is for our family atm.

If you claim CA it will make no difference to her UC entitlement.

You cannot claim CA if you earn more than £132/week.

You cannot claim CA if you earn after all relevant expenses, more than £132/week -

    Good point
£132 is gross amount less any income tax, half of any pension contributions some costs related to your caring responsibilities while working.

The £132 is the net amount after those deductions. eg Earnings £185 less above expenses £54 = £131

As basic tax allowance is around £250 per week  its is unlikely that an income of £132 plus £70 CA would be subject to income tax
All depends if any other type of taxable income is in place.

No I meant the £132 figure is tested against the amount calculated as the gross amount less any income tax, half of any pension contributions some costs related to your caring responsibilities while working. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

not so; the £132 (after certain deductions) is the max.income.
Raceguy was pointing out that it is possible that income tax could apply if there are other sources on income. If there is investment income taking the total over the tax free threshold then income tax would be deducted from the earnings. However your initially comment did say ‘unlikely’ so I think you’d covered the point anyway.

@cdf99 Did our members responses help clarify the best next steps for your family? It's a confusing system I find(!), but please ask away if anything remains unclear.
