Hi Everyone, I am 44 and had my diagnosis of Hemiplegic CP at the age of 5. I had tendon lengthening op followed by at least 11 years of physio. Recently I have been experiencing increased pain / cramps / muscle spasms. Feeling of fatigue and overbalancing.  Is this normal as I am struggling?

Hi @annie39 :) Thank you for posting about this!

We have a page on our website about ageing and CP, which you might find helpful to read.

@richard_scope may also be able to give you some insight on this, as our specialist information officer for CP.

Have you been able to speak to a doctor about the symptoms you've been experiencing?

    Hi Tori,
Thank you, Yes I have seen my GP. Have been given muscle relaxant, antidepressant and referral to Neurologist & Neuro physio and they advised me to apply for PIP - this I feel like a fraud: as I have learnt to live with CP and to me It's 'normal'.......sorry!
I think the difficulty is not knowing as we are all individual and have variety of coping mechanisms, what physical symptoms you are going to get and how they are going to affect your daily life.

You are being really brave sharing all of this with us @Annie39, especially points you disagree with.

I can hear how the uncertainty of all being individual is really difficult for you at the moment. Though, it is really positive that you recognise this.

Would anything, in particular, help things feel more manageable for you at the moment? We are all here for you and listening to you  :)
