Hi
I applied for PIP on 25th August had my telephone assessment on 10th October.
Since then my anxiety has heightened tenfold. I am having panic attacks daily! My needs are changing on a daily basis. I am needing more help and really struggling, I cannot access carers as I cannot afford to pay  them myself.
I called this morning and spoke to a lovely lady, I just ended up crying and could not stop I was so upset! She said it is with decision maker and I should hear something soon. She said give it a week and then call back. then after talking to her she was reluctant to leave the call as I was so upset. She said call whenever I needed too they would rather me call than be stressed and upset on my own.

It took me so long to stop crying, I have been totally drained all day feeling so tired.
Then now I'm over thinking as it's with Decision Maker and she said around a week I'm thinking a week for time to get a letter (Instead of text)

I am so worried, as I said to the lady today its not the money I am bothered by it's the care. I have a friend wiling to help but they live so far away and I or they cannot cover the travel costs to come and help. I hate the way this whole process and my condition makes me feel.

Thanks for listening
Kel x

You are not alone in thinking this because the majority of people do find it very stressful, even after the assessment is completed. Up to now, your timescales has been quite quick compared to some others.
The timescales for decisions once the assessment report is returned to DWP is between 2-12 weeks, sometimes longer. So if you don't have a decision in the next week then don't panic because it's normal.
If you're awarded then they do send to send a text if they have a mobile number for you.
With regarding your care you can refer yourself for a needs assessment from your local Authority and you can do that here. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/help-from-social-services-and-charities/getting-a-needs-assessment/
There maybe a waiting list for this so please bear that in mind.

    Hi Poppy
Thanks for your reply, I have looked at this and it says I may possibly be liable to pay for my own care. At the moment I am nearly keeping my head above water and worry that I won't be able to do it.

If care can be provided they will do a financial assessment and this will determine how much they will pay towards any care you receive.

My report was back on the 10th October and I was awarded Sunday (they have been working weekends because of the backlog) I didn’t receive a text
I rang up the automated line and it told me I was awarded and when I was paid next.
They said a letter was sent (not received yet )
not everyone gets a text x
    Good luck
