Hi all,

I currently get basic living allowance.
My condition recently worsen and I will receive ect treatment.
This treatment have heavy side effects...
Should I contact pip for change of circumstances while I can do it or wait and hope someone will do it for me while I have my treatment?

For PIP you must have had the worsening of condition for at least 3 months and expect it to last at least a further 9 months.
A worsening of condition doesn’t automatically mean you can score more points for a higher award. You should never report a change of condition without first getting some expert advice if you don’t fully understand the PIP descriptors.
When reporting changes you will be sent more forms to fill in and return and another assessment is most likely.

Hi @alex998 :) I hope that your ECT treatment goes well. How are you feeling about it?

If you feel you need some expert advice, I'd suggest searching on https://advicelocal.uk/

Will you be recovering from the treatment at home, or in hospital?

Just wanted to say that I had ECT and I had no side effects whatsoever so it may not be as bad as you imagine 😊

    Hi,

I didn't start ect yet. Suppose to start it soon.
The recovery should be at home normally but not sure as I might go in psycatric ward for safety reasons (I get another psycatric review tomorrow).

I am actually on "suicide surveillance" (done an [Removed by moderator] few months ago) and self harm.
To me things are hopeless, I agreed ect as last resort. In 4 years no antidepressant have been working.
Unfortunately I [Removed by moderator] wich was the way I wanted to suicide. Looking at other alternatives...

    Hi,

Yes ect seems to be a good alternative when medication fail.

I will join psycatric ward as soon as there is one place available (on a voluntary) with a change on my medication (lower the AD and add an antipsycotic) until the 1st ect treatment.
Thanks for the email I am seen by "emergency "psycatrist and mental health nurses (on daily basis) in addition to my regular psycatrist
