Hi there, my grandma gets pension credit already and she has applied for AA. I’m wondering if the AA gets backdated from when u call for the form then would she be owed back dated money from pension credit for the premium that people with AA are entitled to when claiming pension credit? This is obviously if her claim is approved.

There's no automatic entitlement to increased pension credit if you're claiming a disability benefit. Severe disability premium can increase entitlement to PC but whether she's entitled to this will depend on her circumstances. Does she live alone or with a partner or someone else?

She lives alone… I know this means she’s entitled to the premium, so would it be backdated?0

I see from a previous thread that you were given quite a lot of advice, see thread. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/94459/pension-credit-and-aa#latestAs she lives alone, if she's awarded AA then she will be entitled to the SDP. She will need to ring pension credit to claim this. It will be backdated to the start of her AA claim.

If she had a paper form sent to her by AA unit it will have been date stamped and provided she replied within 6 weeks the AA claim will start from the date on the form.
If she downloaded the AA form from the internet to print and fill out then the award, if made, would start from the date the completed form is received by DWP.0 -

Until i read your previous thread i didn't realise that your mother lived alone and neither did i realise you knew she would be entitled to it.I've only just seen your comment that you made at 4.59pm as i was probably typing my comment when you posted and the page hadn't refreshed.0

@cwatson0000 I can see our members have helped answer your question, have you a better understanding of how the SDP would be backdated now? And just to emphasise, there's no limit on asking for advice. It's what we're here for and I can see Poppy's explained her train of thought to you now
Please let us know how your grandma gets on and all the best with the process.0
