Have you got someone who could come and help? I'd also encourage you to look at Turn2Us to see if there are any grants to help you with keeping the house warm. Scope also has their own service called Disability Energy Support, if you live in England or Wales.

I am so sorry about your cat. That wasn't nice of your neighbours.

Not good with the Mould @Antony. Have you got some remover to spray on to keep it at bay?
He needs to find the source of the damp /mould or it will keep on coming back no matter how many times he sprays it!!

I havent put my radiators on and dont intend to just like last year but i bought a lpg gas heater that i use to warm my self for a hour in the morning if its really cold and again in the evening i got tobed at 7pm and watch movies ie Netflix i dont watch normal tv as i dont bother with a tv license i have been on the tv licence web site and declared it the lowest rate Netflix is only £6 a month only issue is i have now got mould growing in my kitchen on the ceiling i have copd so im a little worried about that with the savings i have made i eat well and have invested in a lot of winter clothes im on my own some kind lady is bringing me a christmas dinner happy days are here
The problem with portable gas heaters is that they generate damp with nowhere for the moisture to go... More mould...
Unless adequate ventilation is provided then more cold air gets in

Now it goes without saying that you can't do without ventilation.

I saved up during the summer months. About £70 per month so I have a large credit on my account now. This helps during the cold days.

Who's delaying putting the heating on this year ?
Our living room is currently 17 degrees c - the coldest that its been since March !
We plan to save the heating until December

Luckily I can tolerate cold, for me 17C is a warm temperature.

I typically will start using my blanket at around 12C, and heating when below 10C.

This year since Winter has been quite mild I have only had the heating on 3 times.

For reference the running costs of my gas CH is about 4x as much as a 2000w portable heater.  Just looking at the unit price can be quite misleading as typically a gas boiler can consume far more energy than a single portable heater.  As an example a portable heater will cost me about 30-40p an hour to run, whilst my gas CH is about £1.30-1.50 per hour to run.  An electric blanket is almost nothing to run and by far the most efficient way to keep warm.
