Just been awarded PiP after trying for 2 years. In the sense that I applied at first then had a panic attack when I was invited to face to face interview.
But tried again, still panicked but after a practice run to the centre twice and lots of encouragement I went. This has taken 5mths. I was at first invited to a centre consultation 25 miles away which blew my mind.
I can not drive due to my disability and it would have taken a train
and 2 taxis. This didn't make sense to me and at that point, I thought forget it again! But after a rethink and some breathing exercises, I asked if there was a closer centre. There was. A hour long bus trip. Better, much better.
Not ideal due to my anxiety but manageable. It did seen to me at times that things were put in place to stop you applying, more and more difficulties so you're give up. But persistent seemed at times to be the key. I've yet to get the money but it has only been a day after receiving the text. But It finally feels worth it. Hence what I'm saying don't give up. I explained all this process and journey to the pip assessor and will say overall they were understandable. I'm a proud person. But I'm now a even prouder disabled person. We can do this!
