Hello I've been layed up with painful ribs the last couple of days, all I done was coughed as I was opening a cupboard door and the pain was horrible, so i e not been able to do my exercises or anything which isn't doing my back any good at all and making me more miserable than I already was, but there's not a lot I can do about it so will carry on with physio when I'm able to hopefully it won't be too long unless anyone has done something like this while in pain with there back would be welcomed x

Hello @jackieann3 I'm sorry to hear about this new rib pain, that can't be easy on top of everything else. It's always advisable to speak with your GP if you're worried or struggling to manage.
I'm not sure what the situation is like with appointments for you, so hopefully you'll be able to make a call, especially as you aren't able to exercise at the moment.
Sometimes strains can occur when we cough, the NHS have information on sprains and strains to read if it's useful, and please remember you can get advice from 111 if:I hope the pain eases, and that you can get some clarity on what's happened and any treatment from your GP soon.- the injury is not feeling any better after treating it yourself
- the pain or swelling is getting worse
- you also have a very high temperature or feel hot and shivery – this could be an infection
Let us know if we can help with anything else.0 -
Thanks alex, my ribs are easing today after heat and ice and meds so don't really need appointment I would do of they were still bad though but not a lot can be done for ribs I don't think unless it's causing other problems of course but thank you .1

Hello well my ribs did start to feel better but the last couple of days they have got really painful again and the pain is going round my back but might be where I started to do gentle stretches ,so I will just carry on with ice and heat, I know ribs can take a while thank you for asking x0

Hello @jackieann3 and thanks for the update, what a frustrating time of it you're having!
It does sound like ice and heat are helpful, and if you have any concerns about the pain getting worse then you can chase it up with your GP.
It's an old saying but 'time is a healer'
Do let us know if we can support you in the meantime.0 -
Thank you alex0
