Would you be interested in a daytime zoom coffee & chat for disabled people?

Hi. Sadly I don't know of any ways of connecting with other disabled people in an easy and accessible way.
Sadly I'm not able to be as active and since having to stop work & written off as unfit by OH I have felt I should try not to isolate so much but definitely easier said than done.
I was thinking of zoom sessions as an easy practical idea for many of us who perhaps can't get out as much or as easily or/& for those not currently able to work.
I thought a poll may be a good idea to see if it would appeal to enough people.
Thanks and it's so great to recently have found & joined the community 🥰

I think this is an interesting idea @kiaz
I imagine that many disabled people feel the same, and would enjoy something like a regular video call. It's something that other members on the community have discussed before.
What kinds of topics do you think it'd be good to discuss during the calls?1 -
@Tori_Scope
Yes I think it would be nice.
But you are right that there would probably need to be more managing involved than sadly I would even have the energy or confidence for I think.
I hadn't even thought of topics.
I'm surprised one doesn't already exist somewhere for people.

It wouldn't be for me, sorry. Others maybe interested.

Sadly I don't like the idea for other reasonsNice idea but not my thing, although I can see the appeal, just not my cup off tea so to speak.
Can see it being good for some, especially those of whom might be lonely or have no family near by.0 -
Unfortunately my disability/ties & zoom clashI think the 'scope' of different circumstances on here would make a Zoom group quite complicated. They work better when there's a single point of focus.
I was on regular Zooms for specific health issues last year but had to stop about 6 months ago as it was aggravating my conditions beyond manageable levels. I can't speak on them, but it did feel a bit more real than just watching people on TV, so useful for people who have no other way to access social situations.1 -

Could I ask how you came across the zoom groups? I've been unable to find any, and that's why I thought to make the post.
Sorry to hear you struggled with the zooms.
I guess they would best work if people could attend as and when they wish to & for it not to be any regular commitment.
I understand where you're coming from in regards to a focal point perhaps being necessary.
Appreciate your comment, thanks0 -
@Binky1234
Thanks for your response.
And yes I definitely see for some groups of people it being very helpful.0 -
I struggle to speak to people I don't know so it wouldn't be for me. However to answer your question I goto an Autism monthly zoom meeting which I have been going to for a few months which is booked through eventbrite.

You can book other zoom meetings/chats/sessions on anything and are mostly run professionally and with more moderation.

@Giovanni_Scope
Hi,
Thanks for responding! That's very exciting to hear!
When you say social events do you mean in person events or online connections?
Tbh I'm ot sure if joining the community is the same as being an actual member, I may not be no. I'll have to look into it.
Thank you for letting me know!0 -

And yes I do too. Any group I would join would not be one you're pressured to talk but simply free to join the company of others who are happy to ofcourse. We'll that was my thinking anyway 😊
Thanks for your input0 -
